1. Classic Ribbed Beanie (Most Requested Style)

Skill level: Easy/Intermediate
Sizes: Adult (fits 54–59 cm head)

Materials

  • Worsted weight yarn (Category 4) – 120–150 g

  • 5.0 mm crochet hook

  • Yarn needle

  • Scissors

Gauge

10 stitches × 8 rows = 10 cm in half double crochet

Pattern

Row 1: Ch 41 (height of the hat). Hdc in 2nd ch from hook and across. (40 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Hdc in back loop only across. (BLO hdc)
Repeat Row 2 until your rectangle measures 48–52 cm depending on desired fit.
(48 cm = snug fit, 52 cm = looser fit)

Assembly

  • Fold rectangle in half and slip stitch the last row to the first row to form a tube.

  • With yarn needle, weave through the top edge and pull tight to close the crown.

  • Add a pom pom if desired.

Optional brim: Fold bottom 5–7 cm outward for a classic ribbed look.
